Dr. Pilar Acosta Lara, MD

Dr. Acosta Lara is a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care physician with specialized expertise in interstitial lung diseases, particularly those related to connective tissue disorders and sarcoidosis. Originally from Tampico, Mexico, she earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and pursued fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Acosta Lara is deeply committed to undergraduate medical education. She has experience in curriculum development and mentoring medical students, guiding them through both academic and professional growth. Her passion lies in supporting the next generation of physicians, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds in medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Acosta Lara enjoys traveling with her husband, Jason, and their two daughters.
